Style Staple: The Turtleneck Sweater
How to Style a Turtleneck without Swimming in a Sea of Knits
The turtleneck sweater is a classic staple style piece that never lets us down when the weather starts to get cold. Even though the turtleneck is a closet essential packed with laying potential, it can be one of those difficult-to-style pieces. Living in Los Angeles can add to this challenge, as we really don’t ever NEED to wear a turtleneck. So, with a thin, slimming, 70’s inspired piece we came up with a few ways to incorporate this trend into a wearable winter wardrobe.
Layering and textures: These are a few of our favorite things. After I wore this jumpsuit to my brother’s wedding this summer, I was nervous that this piece would never see the light of day again. But, low and behold, it actually looks banging (inner bro voice) with a turtleneck underneath. Both interesting and comfortable, try laying a turtleneck under a summer jumpsuit for a cool weather reboot.
Wide leg pants are a staple in my closet. I love the 70’s vibe from these vintage Chloe Jeans and the color combination of the thin stripes. This outfit is super easy to pull together, which is always a win. It feels lightweight and fresh and gives your go-to skinny jeans a much needed break.
Pair your high-collared silhouette with a killer winter jacket for the ultimate luxe ensemble. I paired this micro-striped turtleneck with a faux fur cinnamon coat for a retro, yet modern look that will keep me cold weather cool all winter long.
